What’s better than supporting an organization that does good in the community? Cape Abilities believes in creating opportunity for all. Their mission is to serve individuals with disabilities here on Cape Cod by educating, counseling and providing residential, therapeutic, social and employment supports that empower them to achieve meaningful and valued roles in the community.
There are a wide range of programs such as job placement and training services, residential programs, day habilitation/life skills, as well as transportation for individuals. This non profit is well rounded and has made strong connections through out the communities within Cape Cod.
The dynamic of the program pairs the empowerment of individuals of all abilities with a creative approach to sustainability and the environment. There are many different social enterprises which provide employment for people with disabilities. Our favorite to visit is Cape Abilities Farm in Dennis located right on Route 6A. A great spot to grab delicious produce or just stroll through and enjoy the vibrant flowers. What we love the most is how easy it is to get around! Even the rows of flowers and greenhouses are wide enough to comfortably fit through a wheelchair! Not to mention all of the friendly hardworking employees and their mentors will make your day as well 🙂
