Here’s another bit of a throw back for us, as we have yet to visit our favorite Cape Cod playground this summer. Luke’s Love located in West Barnstable was founded in memory of a young boy who was taken too soon in 2000. His parents have created the organization Luke’s Love vowing “to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children everywhere… in his name”. And they are surely doing it!

Word is that it is being relocated behind the Selectman’s Building Art Gallery. Work is scheduled to begin immediately after Labor Day Weekend 2017. Please stay tuned for more updates on the Facebook page!
How hard is it to find a playground that is Barrier-free? We all are familiar with the struggle. Luke’s Love was built with the assistance of the National Center for Boundless Playgrounds. The mission is to create extraordinary playgrounds where all children, with and without disabilities, can enjoy and develop through play. We would like to add that hey we are young adults and we still enjoy the playground- it’s really a space for all! Luke’s Love is one of only 130 playgrounds in the US and Canada that were certified as “Boundless” under strict, accessibility guidelines. Though many of the local parks we go to have the “accessible swings” making a space truly accessible for all is so much more than that and Luke’s Love sets the standard high as it should be.

What to expect at Luke’s Love?
Ramps, safety surface (super supportive!), quiet spaces, a music station, adaptive swings, and a variety of interactive play boards. As their Facebook states it is built with LOVE for children and families of all abilities ♥
Be sure to check the Facebook page or Luke’s Love website out for a variety of pictures of the equipment and layout.
